Becoming - Kindergarten Room
Children in the Becoming/Kindergarten Room include the ages of 3 to 5 with children turning 4 years of age before the 30th of June participating in the Kindergarten year curriculum. Your child needs to be able to independently communicate with their peers and be confident in their toileting skills as part of attending this room.
Jenny ECT - Hi. I'm Jenny, the Early Childhood Teacher in the Becoming room. My focus for children in the 3-5 years group is to promote respect for our environment, all living things within it and to treat other people with kindness.
I use story telling and doing those things myself to teach these life skills to the children. I like to acknowledge all the good things I see the children do every day. I believe all children are capable and competent.
I think the best thing about childhood is make-believe and imagination. Playing along side children as they imagine and create is the best part of the job. I teach skills in the academic areas of writing, counting and early math concepts and science using these principles.
On a personal note, I am a Mum to an adult son, a teenage daughter and my fur baby, a black cat. I live locally, enjoy yoga, camping and bike riding. I feel privileged to be a part of your child's educational journey.
Roxy Leader Educator - Hi, my name is Roxy and I'm the other lead educator in the Kindy room. I have worked in the childcare industry for 13 and a half years and have been a part of the Cribb Street team since 2011. I absolutely love working for such a wonderful centre!
During my time as an educator I have worked across all age groups. My absolute favourite things about the Kindy age group would have to be their fabulous imaginations and watching the children's drawing, pre writing and writing skills come to life!
I am a lover of all things messy play and I'm always keen to get involved and get messy with the children along the way.
When I'm not at work, I am a Mum to my 2 boys Hunter who is 3 and Wren who is 1!
I am absolutely loving being a part of the Kindy team again and am looking forward to the rest of the year with you all.

Kindy Room Philosophy
In the Becoming/Kindergarten Room, we believe that the early years are a holistic journey of adventure and investigation for each unique individual through play-based experiences. This occurs with supportive indoor and outdoor learning environments, valuing families and the wider community, incorporating the principles, practices and learning outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines. Independence is encouraged through self-selection, child choice and the freedom to explore, fostering the development of skills to provide a foundation of learning for Prep and future education.
